The reliability of linings and the stability of thermal units are largely determined by the quality of the raw minerals. It is these minerals that form the refractory structure, provide resistance to thermal shock, and compensate for shrinkage. Alventus supplies key refractory minerals with guaranteed chemical composition and stable physical properties.
Our Minerals
- Kyanite – an aluminosilicate mineral with pronounced hardness anisotropy. Its key advantage is the ability to undergo mullitisation when heated above 1300–1350 °C: kyanite irreversibly transforms into needle-like mullite with the release of silica, expanding in volume. This process compensates for refractory mix shrinkage, fills microcracks, and imparts extreme thermal shock resistance to the material. Chemically inert, insoluble in acids, and non-radioactive. Indispensable in the production of monolithic and fused-cast refractories, precision casting, and mullite synthesis.
- Bauxite (calcined) – a high-alumina material produced by prolonged calcination of natural bauxite. It features high bulk density, low porosity and water absorption, and minimal impurity content. Serves as the primary raw material for alumina-based refractories, abrasives, welding electrodes, ceramics, and metallurgical fluxes.
- Spinel (magnesia-alumina, MgAl₂O₄) – a refractory raw material supplied as sintered or fused spinel. Fused spinel offers exceptionally high density and resistance to basic slags up to 1600 °C, while sintered spinel provides controlled porosity and a stable phase composition. Used as an aggregate for lining slag belts of steel ladles, gunning mixes, and other critical areas requiring resistance to aggressive melts.
